Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 6:30 PM, inaugurates at L'Art Pur Foundation, Takhassusi Branch Street, Al Olaya, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the exhibition "A New Horizon Unfolds. Venice, Riyadh and the Legacy of Marco Polo."
The project, curated by Giacomo Marco Valerio presents the works of Manuel Bonfanti, Florencia S.M. Brück, and Federico Garibaldi, and is produced by Cypher and Area35 Art Gallery, with the support of the Italian Embassy in Riyadh and the patronage of the Società Dante Alighieri.
This exhibition stands as a vibrant reflection of the Foundation’s mission to nurture artistic dialogue and strengthen cultural bridges, emphasizing art as a space of encounter and transcultural dialogue.
The entire venue will be transformed into a metaphorical itinerary retracing the symbolic and visionary resonances of Marco Polo’s journeys, reinterpreted through contemporary sensibilities and artistic languages.
The visitor’s path unfolds through different sections corresponding to the languages and poetics of the three artists:
Manuel Bonfanti constructs suspended, hybrid landscapes, where matter and light become narratives of an inner, timeless geography.
Florencia S.M. Brück offers installations dense with written signs and archetypal references, embodying the transmission of memory and knowledge through generations and civilizations.
Federico Garibaldi captures with his photographic works the threshold between real and imagined worlds, reactivating a visual mythology of travel and discovery.
The exhibition design refuses a linear historical narrative, proposing instead a polyphonic dialogue where the works resonate with one another in thematic and emotional clusters. Each section invites the viewer to traverse a "horizon of meaning," inspired by Marco Polo’s spirit of encounter and transformation.
As the critical reflection suggests, the invisible paths charted by the Venetian explorer — those of exchange, imagination, and cultural osmosis — today find a renewed urgency. In a world crossed by new forms of distance and connection, the artists reinterpret the journey not as a simple physical displacement, but as an existential necessity: a movement towards the Other, and ultimately towards the self.
The works exhibited at L'Art Pur Foundation thus become living maps of a plural identity, fragments of a broader, ongoing dialogue between past, present, and future.
The exhibition will remain on view at L'Art Pur Foundation until June 6, 2025
